In last Sunday's New York Times, I discovered the name for my kind of blogging. It is called Slow Blogging! The article, written by Sharon Otterman, was entitled, "Haste Scorned: Blogging at a Snail's Pace."
Like an ailment finally given a name, this naming gave me a certain comfort for my kind of blogging. I found myself reflected in that article and I recognized her.
According to Otterman, those who subscribe to slow blogging have been inspired by the slow food movement, which I also embrace. The rapid-fire, news-driven blogs are not for them--not for ongoing consumption, anyway. Fast food or rapid-fire blogs are great for occasional fare, but they are "not enough to guarantee human sustenance over the long haul." Yes!
Hello.
mkenow,A quick look of your log shows......1)Recorder: NU DVDRW DDW-082 Version: B370 - HA 1 TA 1 - 7.2.0.3 Here, your burner info shows that its firmware is way behind at version B370. To increase media compatibility and enhance the burner's performance you should update to the latest version B377.You can get it here;http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1743Or download it directly from here;http://www.nu-global.com/admin/download/file/NU-DDW-082-B377.zipUnzip the file and run it, follow the install instructions given.2)CdRomPeripheral : NU DVDRW DDW-082 atapi Port 3 ID 1 DMA: Off Here, your burner's not shown to be set for DMA mode and most likely set to run in the slower PIO mode. Enable DMA made for this device, here's a guide if needed..http://www.onthegosoft.com/dma_setting_nt.htm3)Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB) Last address to be written: 1851679 (411:29.04, 3616MB) Here, shows that you may be trying to burn too close to the disks outer edge, have shrink create smaller file sizes of 4300MB. In shrink's preferences change the target size to custom and enter a value of 4300.4)Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR) This may indicate that the burner is unhappy with the media you're using, the firmware update may fix this, if not try another brand like verbatim.5)6:30:31 PM #35 Phase 38 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 278 Burn process failed at 8x (11,080 KB/s) Try slowing it down to 4x until your burning consistantly/successfully.Cheers:)EDIT:@Car.Mike, I must of been typing way too slow, you got in ahead of me:(
