A Savoy cabbage has replaced my usual table decoration of flowers for a few days. I'm enjoying this little change. For starters, the location is great for careful observation. The vivid colors (green cabbage, red dish and blue mat) and the intricate patterning in the leaves give me great pleasure.
Come Tuesday, I expect to transform the "decoration" into a cold cabbage and cucumber soup made with dill and buttermilk. (Now I'm enjoying another cold soup also made with buttermilk. It is called White Bean Soup, a soup perfect for summer.)
