There is no sign: Leave Your Shoes "At the Door." Still, what I should do with mine, New Balance with orthotics, was clear. I took them off and reveled in the feel of the cool sand on my feet and between my toes.
This entry, a kind of promenade from land to water, points the way to the lovely W. Scott Cameron Beach, a 300-foot-long stretch ocean and lovely sand near Bridgehampton, Long Island. For more than an hour, Judy and I walked there--along with Samson and his companion.
For this Samson, there is no Delilah. Samson's companion, an "old spirit," is Meli (honey, in Greek), and she is deserving of the name. Both are treated very well, witness "the watering" on the beach.
